The bond that can be created between coach and player is unique. There is a fine line between motivating to get the best out of a youngster and pushing them away. Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was pretty good at getting the most out of his guys and is looking to do some of the same things in Jacksonville.
Meyer and the Jaguars made a somewhat surprising move by drafting a former player, tight end Luke Farrell in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft. But Meyer knows what he’s getting with the OSU tight end and he was more than happy to welcome him to the team before the official announcement.
The moment was captured on video as Meyer made the call to the Farrell household to speak with not only Luke but mom and dad as well. Watch below to see a really special interaction.

It’s a pretty cool moment that doesn’t come about all that often. Farrell clearly earned the trust and respect of his coach in college and now he has the opportunity to do the same in Jacksonville.
