Texas will officially take the field for their first spring practice under Steve Sarkisian on Tuesday.

The Longhorns will hold 14 practices prior to the annual Orange-White scrimmage on April 24. However, a few key players will not be participating.

It was announced on Monday that seven players will not be available this spring. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, offensive lineman Derek Kerstetter and defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat headline the list of players that will be sidelined due to injury.

Wide receiver Troy Omeire, who suffered an ACL tear during fall camp last offseason, is expected to be available on a limited basis. The primary storylines to keep an eye on throughout spring practices include the quarterback battle between Casey Thompson and Hudson Card, the implication of offensive and defensive schemes under a new coaching staff, and how the defensive backs will line up.
