Texas Women’s Basketball: Longhorns are a No. 6 seed in NCAA Tournament

The Texas Longhorns women’s basketball team was given the No. 6 seed in the Hemisphere Region. They will play No. 11 Bradley in round one.

The Texas Longhorns men’s basketball program certainly has a reason to celebrate, but it’s also time to appreciate some girl power as the women’s team recently received their seeding for the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

After the lady Longhorns lost in the conference semifinals to the eventual Big 12 champions in the Baylor Bears, Vic Schaefer’s squad didn’t have to wait too long to find out where they were seeded and who they would face in round one of the NCAA Tournament.

No. 6 Texas will face the No. 11 Bradley Braves in round one of the Hemisfair Region in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The region also includes No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Maryland and No. 4 West Virginia.

Take a look at the exciting moment when the players and coaches learned their bracket and seeding in the video put out by the teams Twitter account on Monday.

This marks the sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for the the Longhorns (2019-20 postseason cancelled due to COVID-19) and their 32nd tournament appearance overall.

To make things better, Texas will be playing only 45 minutes down the highway in San Antonio, with what should feel like a home-court advantage for the Longhorns.

Texas and Bradley are scheduled to face off on March 22 at 7:00 p.m. CST.
