The Buffalo Bills have signed safety Micah Hyde to a two-year extension. The team announced the move on Friday.
Hyde, 30, signed with the Bills prior to the 2017 season and was among the first free agents to join the team following Sean McDermott’s hiring that same offseason. That first year saw Hyde earn a Pro Bowl nod.
Heading into 2021, Hyde was entering the final year of his contract. He is slated for a $6.7M cap hit in 2021, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, that figure won’t change much with his new deal.
Per Rap Sheet, Hyde’s extension is worth $19.25M.
In signing Hyde to an extension, he cements the Bills’ secondary going forward. Last March, safety partner Jordan Poyer extended his deal with the Bills through 2022. Just prior to the start of the 2020 regular season, cornerback Tre’Davious White signed a new contract through 2025.
In 2020, Hyde had 70 tackles, including one for loss, five passes defended and an interception. Pro Football Focus also graded him the 25th best safety in the NFL last season. Poyer slid in just ahead of Hyde at No. 21.
