Though we all knew it was coming since he stepped foot on the field again for the first time against the Los Angeles Rams earlier this season, Saturday night was extremely special when Washington quarterback Alex Smith was officially named the Comeback Player of the Year.
After undergoing 17 surgeries on his leg and fighting his way to re-learn how to walk, run, and play football, the fact that Smith was able to take over as Washington’s starting QB and lead them to a 5-1 record and subsequent playoff birth is nothing short of miraculous.
To help honor this achievement, the NFL put together a video fraught with NFL legends that wanted to give their congratulations to Smith. With guys like Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, Vernon Davis, Rod Woodson, Urban Meyer, Dak Prescott, Eddie George, Eric Weddle, and more all giving their heartfelt words, we got to see Smith’s reaction as he watched everyone tell him what an inspiration he was over the past couple of years.
