Syracuse at Virginia: Three things to know
- Syracuse is coming off two impressive home victories after dropping back-to-back road games. As 1-point favorites, the Orange routed No. 14 Virginia Tech 78-60 Saturday, following an 83-57 win vs. Miami as 5-point favorites Tuesday. Sophomore F Quincy Guerrier scored 20 points against Va. Tech, while junior F Alan Griffin recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 15 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 7 blocks. Guerrier leads five Orangemen in double figures with 16.9 points per game.
- Virginia has won 6 in a row and 9 of 10, but the last victory didn’t come easy. Junior G Kihei Clark‘s only basket of the game broke a 62-all tie with 1:13 remaining and senior F Sam Hauser scored 11 of his game-high 22 points during a 15-2 second-half run as Virginia fended off unranked Georgia Tech 64-62 at home Saturday. The Cavs, who were 8.5-point favorites, trailed 54-45 with 10:01 remaining before a Hauser jumper at the 4:59 mark gave Virginia its first lead of the second half. Hauser leads four Cavaliers in double figures at 14.5 PPG and averages a team-best 7.4 rebounds per game.
- The ACC rivals split their two games last season. Virginia won 48-34 as a 3-point favorite and Syracuse claimed a 63-55 upset in overtime as a 7-point road underdog. The Cavs are 7-3 straight-up in the last 10 in the series but just 5-5 ATS.

Syracuse at Virginia: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Virginia 69, Syracuse 58
Money line (ML)
AVOID. Virginia (-300) will win, but it’s not wise to risk 3 times your potential profit.
Against the spread (ATS)
VIRGINIA -6.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. Virginia was a little rusty against Georgia Tech having not played for seven days. The Cavaliers should be more leg-ready for this one. Plus, you can bet they haven’t forgotten last season’s OT upset at home.
ATS: Syracuse 6-7 | Virginia 7-5
Over/Under (O/U)
Back the UNDER 129.5 (-110). Virginia’s defense allows just 59.6 PPG to rank sixth in the country.
I am a little leery because two of the Cavs’ three ACC home games finished above 130 points. Plus, both teams are really good from the free-throw line. Virginia shoots 80.4% from the charity stripe to rank third in the nation, while Syracuse shoots 78.9% to rank 12th.
O/U records: Syracuse 6-7 | Virginia 7-5
