Bills sign ex-Giants RB Devonta Freeman to practice squad

The Buffalo Bills have signed former New York Giants running back Devonta Freeman to their practice squad.

The Buffalo Bills are signing free agent running back Devonta Freeman to replace rookie Zack Moss, who suffered an ankle injury in the Bills’ wild-card victory over the Indianapolis Colts last Saturday and will miss the remainder of the postseason.

Freeman was released by the New York Giants this past week from IR after and injury-riddled season with the club.

Freeman was signed after the Giants lost star running back Saquon Barkley to a season-ending ACL tear in Week 2. Freeman played in just five games for the Giants this season with 54 carries for 172 yards (3.2 YPC) and one touchdown. He also caught seven passes for 58 yards. He hadn’t played since Week 7, enduring ankle and hamstring issues while also battling COVID-19.

Freeman, 28, was a fourth-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in the 2014 NFL draft and became a two-time Pro Bowler with them as a versatile back. Injuries beset Freeman and he began to break down in 2018 leading to his release by the Falcons after the 2019 season.
