Report: LiAngelo Ball signs G League deal to take part in league’s bubble

LiAngelo Ball will reportedly return to the G League this season after signing a deal with the league to take part in the bubble.

LiAngelo Ball will return to the G League this season, per a report from Shams Charania on Thursday. Ball has reportedly signed a deal with the G League to take part in the league’s restart inside of the bubble.

The G League will hold a draft on Monday to fill the rosters for the teams taking part in the league’s restart. In total, seventeen teams will travel to the bubble to play.

Ball, who signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Pistons, could have been apart of the loan system the NBA implemented with G League players this year. Detroit is one of a number of teams not sending their G League affiliate to take part in the bubble.

Had the Detroit Pistons desired to keep his rights, Ball could have been assigned to a separate franchise’s G League team. However, Ball signing with the G League itself on Thursday indicates the Pistons did not loan him.

Ball was signed by Detroit ahead of training camp. He took part in camp before being waived after the team’s second of four preseason games. Ball did not see any action on the court during the preseason.
