Well, this is news. The upcoming national championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes could be postponed.

The matchup is currently set to take place on Monday, Jan. 11, but that could be changing. According to a tweet from Ross Dellenger at SI Now, there have been discussions about postponing because of COVID issues at Ohio State.

As Dellenger also pointed out, the game remains as scheduled, but this something to monitor in the coming days.

If the game is delayed, it could benefit both teams. Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is dealing with a rib injury from the semifinal game against Clemson, while Alabama would have extra time to get star receiver Jaylen Waddle back to full strength.

Of course, neither of those are the reason for the potential delay, but it could be unintended benefits.
