Texas and Chris Del Conte finally decided it was time to let go of Tom Herman. Rumblings of him being fired began when the Longhorns lost back to back games against TCU and Oklahoma in October. The late-season loss to Iowa State was the icing on the cake.
After the Alamo Bowl against Colorado, you could tell Herman was emotional about his players and his time in Austin. It turned out to be his final game in burnt orange.
During his four years, Herman was 32-18, never losing less than three games in a season. He had the opportunity to fire assistant coaches and hire offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich and defensive coordinator Chris Ash. Even those two were not able to fully elevate Texas to the next level.
