Thunder at Hornets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Hornets 106, Thunder 104
Money line (ML)
The HORNETS (-155) celebrate their home opener after suffering a narrow loss in Cleveland on Wednesday. The Thunder (+125) had their opener in Houston canceled at the last minute as the Rockets didn’t have the necessary eight players required to play. We know OKC will be itching to go, but we’re not sure what we’re going to get from them. Back the home side as a result.
Against the spread (ATS)
The HORNETS -3.5 (-105) cashed in their final five games at home to close out the 2019-20 campaign, and they’re 7-1-1 ATS in the past nine games overall dating back to last season. You’ll be going against the grain here, as far as the head-to-head trends, as OKC is 16-6-1 ATS in the past 23 meetings in this cross-conference series, and 5-1 ATS in the past six trips to Buzz City.
But play the home side, as the Thunder +3.5 (-115) are going to have a much different look with head coach Billy Donovan having moved on, no more Steven Adams, Danilo Gallinari, Chris Paul or Dennis Schroder, with only Al Horford and George Hill as notable additions. It might take some time for this OKC unit to gel.
Over/Under (O/U)
UNDER 217.5 (-105) is the play in this one. The Under is 4-0 in the past four meetings in this series, and 4-1 in the past five meetings in Charlotte, too. While the Hornets opened with an Over result in Cleveland, the Thunder might be a bit rusty, and that’s reason enough to play the Under here.
