Texas moves up one spot in USA TODAY Sports final Re-Rank of the regular season

Texas climbed one spot in USA TODAY Sports final Re-Rank of the regular season.

While chaos ensued at the top, the bottom half of the rankings were seemingly unbothered.

Texas climbed one spot in USA TODAY Sports final Re-Rank of the regular season to land at No. 27 overall. The Longhorns finished the regular season with a 6-3 overall record and will play Colorado in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.

Oklahoma benefitted the most in the Re-Rank this week, jumping up six spots after defeating Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship. While neither program will be present in the College Football Playoff this year, they each received a New Year’s Six bowl bid.

In what was considered a down year for the Sooners, head coach Lincoln Riley still found a way to get the job done. What’s more concerning for Texas is the fact that Iowa State was able to do more with less, while the Longhorns continue to do less with more.

Take a look at where each Big 12 program landed in the final regular season Re-Rank.
