The Texas Longhorns dismantled a reeling Kansas State Wildcats team on Saturday. While we broken down the five major reasons for the victory, it is time to look at the big picture.
The Longhorns have seen their fair share of issues over the last several weeks but for the first time since Texas Tech, the Texas offense exploded to the tune of 69 points. It was their second time this year to put up 63 or more points. This time they didn’t need overtime to accomplish the feat, they barely needed the fourth quarter. They scored 35 points in the third quarter alone, which is more than they have in four of their nine games this season.
The question becomes where was this offense all season long? You can argue that it was due in large part to facing one of the worst defenses in the conference in defending explosive plays. There were plenty of them on Saturday. The defense allowed 31 points in this game but their offense was able to shoulder the load in their largest offensive output since the 2005 Big 12 Championship game.
