BuckeyesWire: What Ohio State fans are saying about Michigan State

Not that this is much of a surprise for Spartan fans, but Ohio State fans get more nervous about the MSU game than Michigan.

A view of how Ohio State fans are viewing the game on Saturday against Michigan State from BuckeyesWire editor Phil Harrison:
Okay, let’s get it out of the way right now. We both loathe Michigan right? We’re not even going to get into which so-called rivalry is a better one because they are both good and delicious in their own right. As an outsider to the Michigan State/Michigan rivalry (see how I put the Spartans first there), even Ohio State fans can see how intense this in-state battle is on a yearly basis. We get it. If anyone does, Buckeye fans do.
So, we can all agree on one thing then, and that’s our love to bash our neighbors. For Spartan fans, its the rude, elitist neighbor to the south. For Ohio State fans it’s the washed-up elitist fanbase and program Up North. We hate khakis, awkward press conferences, and embarrassing interviews as much as you do.
So, I got a little secret for you. Over the last few years, Buckeye fans have actually been more worried about Green and While ruining their party plans than all things Maize and Blue. And that’s no different this year. While the Spartans may have struggled out of the gate, the running game and defense seemed to find that Spartan way last week and that has us a bit concerned, especially seeing how OSU has been off the grid trying to curtail the mild coronavirus outbreak and will undoubtedly be a little shorthanded this weekend.

I mean, the Buckeyes have to travel to East Lansing and take on a team that appears to be much improved with a quarterback named Rocky. C’mon. If that doesn’t sound like an underdog story, I don’t know what does.
Ohio State will always circle the Michigan game at the end of the calendar because, well, it’s The Game, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say we’ve been more concerned about beating Michigan State than those forlorn Wolverines. That includes over the last ten years, and in 2020.
Good luck and Spartan on. Just not too much because we need a win down here in the O-H-I-O.
