Ohio State football program has resumed small workouts

According to reports, the Ohio State football program has resumed some football activities at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center Monday.

In a bit of good news, an Ohio State spokesman has confirmed that the Ohio State football program has resumed some small group workouts at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Eleven Warriors and Lettermen Row have both reported the news.

Virtual team meetings and other activities continue as an added precaution and measure.

The Buckeyes made the decision to cancel the game against Illinois this past weekend and to pause football activities because it crossed over the 7.5 percent team positivity threshold used as one of the guidelines set forth by the Big Ten’s Medical Subcommittee. And while it did not cross another key marker — the five percent in totality threshold of all tests — the program made the decision to shut things down as a proactive measure.

According to Dr. Jim Borchers, the team also implemented enhanced testing and contact tracing protocols to help combat the increase in COVID-19 positive results.

We still don’t know the exact number of positives the program is dealing with. Ohio State has historically been very mum on injury updates and especially with confirmed COVID-19 positive results because of student-athlete privacy concerns.

Further information was not provided, and the game against Michigan State is still up in the air. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day would normally hold his regularly scheduled press conference on Tuesdays, and there has been no word on whether that will still occur or not. If so, we should have some more updates tomorrow.

As we get more information from all available avenues, we’ll continue to keep everyone informed. But yeah, this does appear to be a step in the right direction.
