Social media hype, buzz prior to Texas’ crucial matchup with Iowa State

Nerves are understandably high as Texas hosts Iowa State for senior day on Nov. 27 in a game that has major Big 12 title implications.

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger will likely be appearing in his final home game at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Nov. 27.

It’s certainly possible for Ehlinger to return for one more season and have a change of heart, but reports indicate that the senior quarterback will participate in the Senior Bowl and prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft once the season concludes.

No. 20 Texas hosts No. 15 Iowa State in a crucial matchup on Friday where both sides know what’s at stake. Needless to say, this will be an emotional contest. Not only is it Senior Day for Texas, head coach Tom Herman is also playing for his job.

After suffering back-to-back losses early on in the season, Texas has managed to win three straight games and now controls their own destiny. However, the Cyclones are the toughest opponent left on their schedule and currently sit atop the Big 12 rankings.

The winner of this particular matchup is in position to play for the Big 12 conference championship. Due to a scheduled bye week combined with COVID-19 issues with Kansas, Texas has had nearly three weeks of rest. Iowa State is coming off of a dominant 45-0 win last week over Kansas State.

Take a look at the social media buzz, nerves and predictions prior to kickoff.
