Buddy Hield’s relationship with the Sacramento Kings has been, uh, rocky. And that’s probably putting it kindly at this point.
The Kings played hardball with him when negotiating his extension last season and he clearly didn’t like it. Eventually, they settled on a four-year, $94 million deal that could reach $106 million if he hits certain performance bonuses.
It’s hard to hit those bonuses from the bench, though. So, naturally, when he was benched last season in place of Bogdan Bogdanovic, he wasn’t happy about that either.
Things are on the up and up now, though! Bodganovic is with the Atlanta Hawks now after the Kings declined to match their free agency offer, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. And, the Kings apparently believe Hield is part of their “young core.”
Kings front office labored over the decision, but kept coming back to new GM Monte McNair’s plan to maintain roster flexibility. Keeping Bogdanovic would’ve severely limited the organization’s ability to continue reshaping the team around its young core of Fox, Bagley and Hield. https://t.co/d4tuT8IRkD

So, of course, Buddy should be happy now, right? Uh, not necessarily. If his latest liked tweet is any indication, he’s still might be unhappy with he Kings.
Uhh, look at the last tweet that Buddy Hield liked. 👀 pic.twitter.com/jESaF5R29F

WHEW that is messy. Looks like the Kings picked the wrong shooting guard to keep, although, it didn’t seem like Bogdanovic wanted to stay either.
The Kings, man. They just can’t catch a break.
