There’s a newcomer to the Associate Press Top 25 College Football Poll and it has a Carolina blue shade to it. No, this isn’t basketball, but the North Carolina Tar Heels are now ranked No. 5, leapfrogging Ohio State to do so.
And while the Amway Coaches Poll decided to elevate the Buckeyes one spot from No. 6 to No. 5 because of the Florida loss, the AP voters (who continue to bewilder) decided to keep OSU at No. 6 — seemingly continuing to penalize OSU for not yet playing a game.
The rest of the top ten looks pretty similar to the Amway Coaches with the same teams, just in a little different order. Clemson is No. 1 followed by Alabama (2), Georgia (3), Notre Dame (4), North Carolina (5), Ohio State (6), Oklahoma State (7), Cincinnati (8), Penn State (9), and Florida (10).
Proof that the AP voters have no idea what they are doing, the team below the Gators is the team that just beat them, Texas A&M. And yeah … the teams have the same 2-1 record so figure that one out.
POLL ALERT: LSU is first defending national champion to be unranked since 2011; Alabama-Georgia set for 2-3 matchup.

OSU kicks off the season in under two weeks now against Nebraska on October 24. Maybe then, the Buckeyes will turn some heads and get back on everyone’s radar.
