Former Michigan State tight end Matt Sokol was a solid player in college, and he has at least shown enough to scouts at the pro level to continue finding opportunities, but the former undrafted Spartan has yet to really stick with an NFL team. Sokol spent last year with the Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Lions practice squads, and was in camp with the Lions this summer.
Unfortunately, Sokol will have to continue searching for a home at the next level. On Saturday, Detroit Lions beat reporter Michael Rothstein (ESPN) reported that the Lions were planning to waive Sokol, despite what Rothstein called “a really good camp.”
The Lions are also planning to waive TE Matt Sokol, per a source. He had a really good camp.

Hopefully that report of him having a good camp impresses another team enough to give him a closer look.
