Former Alabama safety Xavier McKinney was drafted by the New York Giants in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. While he was expected to be a rookie to have an immediate impact on the team, he has reportedly suffered a broken foot, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
In his junior season with the Crimson Tide, McKinney recorded 95 total tackles, five passes deflected, four forced fumbles with one recovered, three interceptions and a pick six.
There’s no official word on how McKinney injured his foot, but the Giants have confirmed it was a fracture to the left foot and will require surgery, which is scheduled for later today.
