NFL teams have started to trim their rosters over the past few days after the league and players agreed to new protocol last week which calls for teams to carry 80 players during training camp, not the usual 90. That’s a safety measure due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Bills are now on the board with starting to trim their roster as of Monday. The team announced that two players have been released by the team: Offensive lineman Garrett McGhin and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud.
With these two moves, the Bills’ roster is now at 86 players.
McCloud was a sixth-round pick for the team from the 2018 NFL Draft. He was waived at the end of training camp last year, briefly joined the Panthers, and then re-signed with the Bills again via their practice squad. McCloud signed him to a reserve/future contract last January.
McCloud has made five catches for 36 yards with the Bills, and returned punts, but had trouble hanging onto the ball.
McGhin joined the Bills last year as an undrafted free agent from East Carolina, and then also was signed by the Panthers after the Bills released him following a training camp injury. He played in seven special teams snaps with the Panthers in 2019.
