On Monday CBS writer Kyle Boone shared a photo of Oklahoma State’s head coach Mike Gundy after a day of fishing on Lake Texoma. The Cowboys leader was wearing an OAN shirt which sparked some outrage on twitter from star running back Chuba Hubbard.
I will not stand for this.. This is completely insensitive to everything going on in society, and it’s unacceptable. I will not be doing anything with Oklahoma State until things CHANGE. https://t.co/psxPn4Khoq

One America News (OAN) has made some disparaging remarks towards the Black Lives Matter movement including calling it a farce. With protests taking place across the nation, this was taken as insensitive towards his very own players. OSU’s athletic director released a statement in regards to what is being put on social media following the release of the picture.
Statement just now from Oklahoma State AD Mike Holder:
“This afternoon has been very disturbing. The tweets from the current and former players are of grave concern.”

This isn’t exactly the first time that Mike Gundy has been under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Back in April, Sports Illustrated provided a quote that Gundy made about COVID-19 in regards to playing sports.
The NCAA, the presidents of the universities, the Power 5 conference commissioners, the athletic directors need to be meeting right now and we need to start coming up with answers,” Noted Expert Mike Gundy said. “In my opinion, if we have to bring our players back, test them. They’re all in good shape. They’re all 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22-year-olds. They’re healthy. A lot of them can fight it off with their natural body, the antibodies and the build that they have. There’s some people that are asymptomatic. If that’s true, then we sequester them. And people say that’s crazy. No, it’s not crazy because we need to continue and budget and run money through the state of Oklahoma.
Not even a week later Gundy would apologize for his comments. The school president and athletic director need to move swiftly in order to rectify the situation as quickly as possible.
