Early season college football television times to be chosen at later date because of COVID-19

In a joint press release, television networks and conferences agreed to extend decisions on early CFB tv times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We usually get announcements on some early season college football times around June 1, but like everything else, usually doesn’t apply here because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a joint release by the conferences and television networks, the determination and communication of these early season times will be extended until more information is made available about the ability to play college football games in the fall.

Here is the complete, unedited joint release. The statement includes CBS Sports, ESPN, Fox Sports, and their affiliated networks.

“Collectively, the conferences and television networks have agreed to an extension for determining college football’s early-season game times beyond the standard June 1 deadline. These kickoff times and network designations will be announced at a later date as we all continue to prepare for the college football season.”

There is no timetable given for when we might know more, but it clearly depends on a safe return to play plan and agreement across the board. As more information becomes available, we’ll be on top of it.
