Georgia football’s Jake Fromm is a tough prospect to evaluate ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. PFF compares him to a Chicago Bears quarterback.

Georgia football’s Jake Fromm is a tough prospect to evaluate ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. Fromm struggled with consistency in 2019, but he had an entirely new group of wide receivers. Notably, Fromm couldn’t cash in on as many deep passes as he needed.

Pro Football Focus is comparing Jake Fromm to Chicago Bears quarterback Chase Daniel. Daniel threw three touchdowns and two interceptions this season behind lackluster Chicago starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

So what does PFF’s pro comparison for Jake Fromm have in common with NFL.com’s? Both Chase Daniel and Colt McCoy are long-time NFL back-ups. Each player is ready to fill in if called upon, but hasn’t been effective as starter for longer stretches.

In fact, Daniel has started only five games in his ten year NFL career. Daniel has a career 87.5 passer rating. Will Fromm be able to make it as a starter in the NFL? If he can’t, then NFL Draft analysts seem to believe he can hang around as a back-up. Fromm’s football knowledge would help him stick on rosters as a mentor in the later years of his career.
