The 2020 NFL scouting combine is over and while the Indianapolis Colts will be shifting their immediate focus to the upcoming free agency period, the NFL draft is still playing a big role in their moves this offseason.
Free agency will have plenty to do with how the Colts go about their draft process, but there are many mock drafts out there believing they will snag a quarterback with the No. 13 overall pick.
In a mock draft from Trevor Sikkema of The Draft Network, the Colts got their three-rounder started with a blast.
No. 13 | Tua Tagovailoa | QB | Alabama
With only two quarterbacks going in the top-10 of this mock draft (Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert), Tua is available at No. 13. This would be a dream scenario for the Colts, who would find a potential franchise quarterback. Here’s what Sikkema had to say about the pick:
Alright, folks, it’s time to get real.
I have already introduced the thought that the league might be lower on Tagovailoa than many think. Now, I’m not saying that every team is lower on Tagovailoa. Perhaps there are plenty of teams that would take him in the top 10. If that were the case, it would appear as if the result was the status quo.
But we were told by more than one authority that certain teams don’t view Tagovailoa as a sure thing. A big reason for that is his injury history, even with the good medical report he received.
Even on the lowest end of the speculation spectrum, I can’t see Tagovailoa getting past the top 15, and I think even that is low. Regardless of where it might be, if he’s in range of the Indianapolis Colts, I think they’d make the move.
No. 34 | Neville Gallimore | DT | Oklahoma
Gallimore had an impressive showing at the combine and should be in consideration for the first of two second-round picks for the Colts. With a massive need for talent on the interior defensive line, Gallimore would compete immediately for a starting role.

The Colts could wait and potentially grab a receiver at this spot, but going with Gallimore at No. 34 isn’t a terrible choice at all, especially given his fit within the Colts’ one-gap front.
No. 44 | Laviska Shenault Jr. | WR | Colorado
With a massive need at wide receiver, the Colts should be looking in the early rounds for a starter. Shenault Jr. is set to undergo surgery that will keep him out roughly a month or so, which could have an impact on his draft stock.
Colorado WR Laviska Shenault, who has been dealing with core muscle injury and inflammation of the pubic bone, will have surgery that is expected to sideline him 4-6 weeks, per league source. Despite the injury, Shenault ran a 4.55 at the combine. But with no improvement, surgery

Shenault Jr. checks all of the boxes the Colts will be looking for in a wide receiver. He’s a potential WR1 in their offense and despite his low production, he could be a solid grab as long as his core injury isn’t too bad.
No. 75 | Matt Hennessy | IOL | Temple
Hennessy would likely work either behind Ryan Kelly at center or compete for a starting role with right guard Mark Glowinski. The Temple product would be a strong Day 2 pick to solidify some depth on the offensive line, something the Colts desperately need.
Hennessy would be a strong fit for the Colts given that they like to run both power and zone blocking concepts in the run game. His technique is already strong and would allow him to upgrade the Colts at right guard if he beats out Glowinski for the spot.
