The Vikings could be looking at an overhaul of their interior defensive line this offseason.
We’ll see if there’s a buyout coming for Linval Joseph, but even if that doesn’t happen, the Vikings need to upgrade Shamar Stephen’s spot.
An opportunity to do that is through the 2020 NFL Draft.
In Josh Edwards’ recent mock draft at CBS Sports, he has the Vikings taking Oklahoma defensive tackle Neville Gallimore with the 25th overall pick.
Here’s what Edwards wrote about it:
The NFC Championship Game showed that the Vikings need to strengthen their game in the trenches. Gallimore is a strong player who plays with maximum effort. He should provide a jolt to those pass rushers on either side of him.
Gallimore was named to the second-team All-Big 12 in 2019 with the Sooners. Pairing a first-round pick inside the duo of Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen (assuming he returns to Minnesota) should be intimidating for opposing offenses.
