Tom Herman’s 2020 recruiting class was consistent with one thing and that was acquiring in-state talent. Of the 19 players that signed their letter on intent, 18 of them were from the state of Texas, with five-star running back Bijan Robinson being the one standout.
The Longhorns are trying to continue that trend in the 2021 and 2022 classes and have offered another player from Texas. Malick Sylla is a 2020 weakside defensive end from Katy High School, considered one of the best programs in the state.

Sylla is currently unranked by 247Sports but has offers from all over the country. Baylor and Oklahoma State from the Big 12 join Texas, while SEC schools Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M have also offered Sylla.
Listed at 6 feet 5 inches and 225 pounds, Sylla has the size to be a great defensive end. Just the second weakside defensive end offered in the 2022 class by the Longhorns, Sylla would be a great addition to Herman’s squad.
