BREAKING: Ohio State players Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint have been dismissed from the team

Ryan Day has announced that Ohio State football players Jahsen Wint and Amir Riep have been released from the team.

Ohio State players Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint are no longer on the Ohio State football team per a release from head coach Ryan Day late Wednesday.

“I have dismissed Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint from our football program,” said Day through a release. “I am not making any statement on the criminal charges, but it is clear they did not live up to our standards and my expectations. The athletics department will make sure they both continue to have access to the health and well-being resources available to students and student-athletes. Due to the ongoing criminal investigation, I will not be commenting further.”

News broke late Wednesday that the two were charged with kidnapping and rape and a warrant issued for their arrest. And while those charges will have to work their way through the court system as a very serious matter, it is clear that Ryan Day is taking a no-nonsense approach — as he should.

We’ll have more on this if it becomes available.
