In an effort to make fun, er — to keep tabs on Ohio State’s arch-rivals to the north, Michigan is reportedly expected to give a contract extension to their head football coach, Jim Harbaugh.
Harbaugh has seen success as the Wolverines leader, just not against the Buckeyes — or bowl games for that matter — and for fans, being able to defeat Ohio State is the gauge for success.
It isn’t necessarily just his fault as Michigan hasn’t beaten Ohio State at home or on the road since 2011, well before Mr. Khakis backed the U-Haul up from the NFL to Ann Arbor.
However, for Michigan, it’ll likely be more about the impact that losing Harbaugh would have on their upcoming recruiting classes, one reason to extend the well-known head coach.
According to Michael Spath of Sports Illustrated’s WolverineDigest, many sources think Harbaugh will get an extension at one of the country’s pristine public universities in the very near future.
“In fact, multiple sources WolverineDigest spoke to believe an extension will be finalized and announced within the next few weeks,” Spath wrote.

Harbaugh, who came to Michigan after a stint with the 49ers, has been there since 2015. In his five seasons with the Wolverines, Harbaugh has gone 47-18.
That loud sound you hear is all of Buckeye Nation cheering for this move if it happens.
