For the first time in history, a former Ohio State football player has been named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year. Former Buckeye and current New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas had arguably the greatest year any receiver has ever had in the history of the league making it hard to ignore.
Last season Thomas set the NFL’s single-season record for receptions with 149 total catches, had nine touchdowns, and totaled 1,725 receiving yards on the year for the Saints. He finished first among all receivers in yards, first downs, targets, catches, and catch percentage.
Thomas is just the second receiver to ever win the award, joining Hall of Famer Jerry Rice who won it twice.

Truth be known, Thomas had an argument for MVP as well, but the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson took that home with an absolutely unbelievable year. Thomas joins one other former Buckeye in the round-up of NFL awards, as Nick Bosa has also taken home the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Congrats Mike, and way to make Buckeye Nation proud.
