Jason Garrett may end up staying in the NFC East. The former Dallas Cowboys coach is interviewing for the Giants’ offensive coordinator position, according to NFL Network.
Mike Garafolo reported mid-day Wednesday that Garrett was in the Giants team building for the day, interviewing with new head coach joe judge for the opportunity to fill the OC opening.
Ian Rapoport reported last week that the New York franchise requested permission to interview Garrett while he was still under contract with the Cowboys.
That contract expired after Tuesday, meaning that beginning Wednesday the Giants no longer needed permission to interview Garrett.
In a decade as the head coach in Dallas, Garrett took the team to the playoffs three times and finished with an overall record as head coach of 85-67.
Garrett could add some serious experience to the staff for first-year head coach Judge, who spent eight seasons as an assistant with the Patriots before accepting the position with the Giants last week.
