The Dallas Cowboys missed the NFL playoffs this year, and as a result, sent head coach Jason Garrett on his merry way. There is plenty of blame to go around, but at the end of the day owner Jerry Jones brought in Mike McCarthy to try and rally a talented roster for next season.
One of those players is former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott. He still had a good year but missed out on the rushing title this season after holding the crown for two of his first three seasons.
Now that McCarthy has been introduced as the head coach for America’s Team, he’s in the throes of putting together his coaching staff. One of the names that has surfaced as the potential running backs coach according to our sister site Cowboys Wire is none other than former OSU assistant Stan Drayton. He left Urban Meyer’s staff after 2014 to join the staff of the Chicago Bears, then ended up under head coach Tom Herman at Texas in 2017.
While at Ohio State he coached Elliott during the national title run in 2014. A year in which the former Buckeye star went on an unbelievable run at the end of the year.

There’s no doubt McCarthy knows this and thinks the fit could be a good one to help build a bridge for Elliott with so much change coming.
This has to be good news for Zeke if it comes to fruition.
