Players are wary
While we already said the league has no idea what they can and can’t predict in terms of a return to football, safety Micah Hyde provided some insights into the mind of NFL players in June. He said this month that guys around the league truthfully are worried about a return. Hyde understandably said that if he had to pick between football and seeing his family for months? It might be the latter.
“It’s bigger than football. I want to get back just as much as the next guy and compete, but your family is what keeps you sane, and I’m not going to risk someone else’s life to play a game,” Hyde said. “If you told me right now I could play this season but I wouldn’t see my family, I don’t know if I’m doing that.”
Also chatting to TheAthletic.com in regard to a return were Bills kicker Stephen Hauschka and defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. Both felt similar to Hyde’s thoughts.
