Stidham’s spot
Had Cam Newton not signed with the Patriots, the guy that was most likely to take the starting snaps was Jarrett Stidham. But there’s some reports since Newton’s signing that have surfaced and they’re saying that the Pats actually do still like Stidham, so maybe we might have to pump the brakes on Newton starting until training camps open.
First, one AFC East head coach remained anonymous and told ESPN that the Patriots do like Stidham still… in fact, the word used was “love” him and expects Stidham, not Newton, to be the starter under center for the Patriots in Week 1.
Furthermore via Patriots Wire, Stidham’s “performance had nothing to do with the signing of Newton.”
Maybe a smokescreen, maybe legitimate interest in Stidham still? Regardless of which, both are worth noting.
