Jets add vet wideout
Donte Moncrief is now a member of the Jets as the free agent signed with New York over the weekend. He’s a familiar name in the AFC, having been a positive contributor with the Colts previously. In 2015, he had 733 receiving yards with the Colts and in 2016 had seven touchdowns.
After spending the first four years of his career with Indy, Moncrief has since bounced around with detours in Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, and Carolina. The 27-year-old will provide some much-needed depth for Gang Green, as the team has just seven healthy wide receivers at the moment. Both Denzel Mims and Breshad Perriman are still nursing injuries, while Lawrence Cager recently went down with a knee injury. Jeff Smith was also added to the injury report Saturday.
The Jets used their vacant roster spot from Maher for the 6-foot-2, 27-year-old receiver as well. In additiont o Moncrief, the Jets claimed wide receiver DJ Montgomery from the Browns.
