An AFC East trade… that failed

What a story this was… the Dolphins traded running back Kalen Ballage in a rare trade… to a divisional rival in the Jets. Still, it was a deal that made sense. Formerly the Dolphins head coach, Adam Gase was familiar with the running back from his time in South Beach. But here’s where it gets fun.

Ballage failed his physical when reporting to the Jets, so he goes back to the Dolphins. The Dolphins were slated to get a seventh-round pick for Ballage, not much at all, now they’ll get… nothing at all. Ballage will now likely be released but maybe he can find his way back to Gang Green when that happens? Time will only tell.

In response to trading and now eventually cutting Ballage, the Dolphins were awarded running back Salvon Ahmed off of waivers from the 49ers. He’s a 2020 undrafted free agent running back Salvon Ahmed of the Washington Huskies.

Trades in the AFC East are rare, but not unheard of. The Bills traded offensive lineman to the Patriots last offseason.
