Jason Witten returned this year, but be worried about others

Former player-turned-broadcaster-turned-player Jason Witten returned to the Cowboys this season after retiring last year. He’s 37-years-old, and wanted back in. But it hasn’t been the best of times for him. He has a decent 42 catches for 376 and two touchdowns this year, but PFF grades him as the NFL’s 43rd best tight end. Not good. He could be a threat, but the Bills have fared well against opposing tight ends this year.

Instead, be ready for plenty of 11 personnel. The Cowboys feature plenty of three wideout sets because they’re deep at that position.

The top is Amari Cooper. Even with his zero last week, he still has the sixth-most yards in the NFL with 886, it’s ahead of Buffalo’s John Brown (856), who’s impressive in his own right. In total, Cooper has 56 catches and seven scores. Along with Cooper, Michael Gallup and Randall Cobb feature for the Cowboys. There’s only so many touches to go around, but for reference, PFF ranks those three the No. 4, 29, and 38 wideouts in the NFL. Buffalo’s secondary might have their hands full. Tre’Davious White is coming off a big game with an interception and holding Denver’s Courtland Sutton to one catch on eight targets.
