Special teams/ Zo duty possible
McDermott won’t ever just hand a job to anyone, there will be competition, but Klein looks to be like a guy that can fill-in Lorenzo Alexander’s role.
There were three areas that Alexander covered well for the Bills on the field. He could rush the passer, but also defend the pass decently, too. In addition, Alexander also took up special teams snaps.
During Klein’s time in Carolina, he played in plenty of special teams snaps, up to 60 percent in three of his four seasons there. While those numbers dipped with the Saints, he still has the experience. His defensive prowess is something we’ll have to see.
Against the pass defensively, he had he had 6.5 sacks in his three seasons in New Orleans, but only nine passes defended in three years. Alexander had nine… last season and 18 in the last two years. Pro Football Focus graded Klein poorly in coverage as well, only a 43.6 overall mark. Klein may have to compete against the likes of Vosean Joseph, Corey Thompson and others for playing time on defense.
AJ Takeaway 👏👏
