8 takeaways from Bills GM Brandon Beane

Takeaways from Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane during 2020 training camp.

More extensions

No real update on any future extensions from Beane. Yes, there’s the one he needs, but the other two important ones are for linebacker Matt Milano and cornerback Tre’Davious White. Oddly, their names were never mentioned but that’s who Beane inferred he was talking about.

What it sounds like from Beane is that he probably won’t have updates about Milano and White until we have updates about revenue and the salary cap. The owners and players agreed upon a potential $175 million salary cap if revenues aren’t great due to COVID-19 keeping fans away from stadiums. That could improve, but that depends on… again… revenues. It’ll help Buffalo re-sign guys. This year’s salary cap is $198.2M, so had we been living in a normal world, it could’ve been much easier for Beane to re-sign everyone.

“As I’ve mentioned, it’s become harder,” Beane said.

“We love those guys and we want them here and we’re going to try out best to figure out how to get these guys done. I don’t really speak on negotiations. I think that’s the best way to do business,” he added. “Nothing I can really give you in as far as something about to be done.”
