New York Jets
Quinnen’s offseason changes
The Bills drafted Ed Oliver No. 9 overall in 2019. The only defensive tackle taken ahead of him was Quinnen Williams, who went to the Jets at No. 3. Oliver got the better of Williams in Year 1.
Oliver had double the amount of sacks (5) and more tackles (48 to 28), tackles for loss (5 to 4), and QB hits (6 to 4). Making a difference there could be the games played. Williams battled injury for much of the year and missed three games. Oliver didn’t miss any games. But having said that, Williams is taking the first steps to improve there.
According to ESPN, Williams is no long a cookie monster. Williams, an avid fast food and Oreo cookie guy, has given those up. Criticize all you want, but he’s 22. It happens. From his personal trainer Kevin Brown via ESPN: “He wants to show people, ‘I was the third overall pick for a reason.”
It’ll be another fun year of Oliver-Williams comparisons, since Oliver is slated to get more playing time himself without Jordan Phillips in the lineup.
