New England Patriots
Some Jarrett Stidham love
Former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst Chris Simms is going through his yearly offseason quarterback rankings. There’s some noteworthy things in there from the AFC East.
First, Bills QB Josh Allen was the highest-ranked from the division, falling at No. 18 overall. But then there’s some head turners. Jets QB Sam Darnold falls next at 23 and here’s where it gets interesting: Next comes… Ryan Fitzpatrick, who edges out… Jarrett Stidman? Yes, the Patriots QB beats out Tua Tagovailoa. Both players are essentially rookies. Tagovailoa was the fifth-overall pick in the most recent draft. A year ago, Stidman was a fourth-round pick of the Patriots and essentially had no playing time behind Tom Brady. But apparently sitting behind Brady was enough for Simms, who ranks Stidman at No. 33, ahead of Tagovailoa at No. 40. Simms also explained that he thinks Tagovailoa had a lot of help from multiple first-round offensive playmakers on his offense at Alabama.
