LB Matt Milano
Like Dion Dawkins, Matt Milano is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Also like Dawkins, the Bills would be smart to pay the man. With Tremaine Edmunds, the Bills have a formidable duo in the middle of their nickel-based (2 LBs) defense, a pair which could stick for a long time.
Milano has had a great first three years of his career and he might be the most surprising guy on Buffalo’s defense to not earn a Pro Bowl just yet. Despite 101 tackles and nine passes defended last year, Milano still didn’t get the honor. Truly his best shot was likely in 2018. His second season saw him notch three interceptions and 12 tackles for loss with a sack. Because of a brutal foot injury late in the season, Milano didn’t make it. Taking down the quarterback is, of course, the sexy stat among NFL defenders. Milano’s a solid, all-around linebacker, but more so flashes as a pass defended instead, locking up opposing tight ends. Eventually the NFL will realize the talent the Bills have in him.
