5 wide receivers the Jets should avoid in free agency

It looks like Phillip Dorsett’s tenure in New England is done.

Dorsett often made big plays for the Patriots, but he could never develop into a consistent threat that would put him in Julian Edelman or Wes Welker territory.

Playing in 14 games in 2019, Dorsett caught 29 passes for 397 yards and five touchdowns.

He is a nice depth piece at wide receiver who can come in and make plays as a change of pace guy. However, if a team like the Jets is relying on him for something more, they’d be making a sizable mistake.

If there is any lesson to learn from Bill Belichick’s free agent dealings, it’s that you probably shouldn’t target the players he let’s out of the building. While Dorsett is one of the top available free agent wide receivers who won’t be franchised or transitioned tagged, it should speak volumes if New England allows him to walk, granted the state of their current receiver room.
