5 wide receivers the Jets should avoid in free agency

During his tenure in the NFL, Tavon Austin has been nothing more than a gadget player, who has failed to find his niche in the receiving game.

His intriguing physical skill sets don’t often show in games, which has been problematic between stops in St. Louis, Los Angeles and Dallas. In 2019, Austin had 11 receptions for 171 yards and a touchdown, adding six rushes for 47 yards and a score on the ground.

While speed has been a consistent element when it comes to what Adam Gase and the Jets look for in a receiver, it’s not going to come from Austin.

New York is better suited eying Dallas free agents Amari Cooper — should he avoid the tag — and Randall Cobb, who are better fits in Gase’s offense.
