He’s not the same player that he was
An issue that many people have is, the second that a player with name value gets let go from a contract, or is on the trading block, they have this strange urge for their favorite team to sign that name, with little-to-no thought.
The Bills are in the best position that they have been in since the 1990s. The Nineties! Financially, in a great spot. Talent, in a great spot. Culture, also in a great spot.
Newton, no matter how incredible he was, en route to Super Bowl 50, is nothing more than an emotional reaction signing at this point. There is nothing that Cam could add to this team that isn’t already there.
Allen is a younger version of Newton, who is much healthier physically. A QB who can take off and run big in a pinch? Josh can do that. A QB who can throw the ball, yet has some slight accuracy issues? Allen is that guy. The difference is that Allen has progressed as of late, while Newton has regressed. We’ve seen Newton’s peak, and we haven’t quite hit Allen’s. Signing Newton in Buffalo is worth his time, or the Bills. There are other teams however, who would benefit from signing him, but Buffalo is definitely not it.
Cam Newton’s 2017 journey is the most overlooked, under-appreciated individual season in Panthers history.
Go watch the tape. He literally carried the entire offense on his shoulders. pic.twitter.com/X5kRq4kkXL
