2. CB Ambry Thomas
Today, cornerback Ambry Thomas spoke to reporters after the first practice down in Florida and had some interesting comments about possibly declaring for the NFL draft after the Citrus Bowl Game. He said he would make his decision about his future after the game. Now whether it will be the press conference after the game or a week after is unknown, but Thomas had a fun exchange with the media about his future.
“We going to see how the game goes (on when he will announce his decision),” Thomas said. “We got a first-rounder, first-rounder, first-rounder here, and I do my thing? Why not?”
Thomas was laughing and smiling when saying that and talking to the media today, so while he is saying he could declare, I don’t expect Thomas to be serious about his decision just yet. Despite him joking around, he has a point about possibly declaring and after his breakout year this season, a strong performance against the best trio of wide receivers in college football could throw his name on the list of cornerbacks trying to get drafted this year.
Thomas’s career numbers at Michigan so far are 50 total tackles, five fumble recoveries, four interceptions, three and a half tackles for loss, three pass deflections, and a forced fumble.
