MID-RANGE: CAN WISCONSIN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF INDIANA’S DEFENSE?
Wisconsin has scored at least 80 points in four different Big Ten games this year but the 84 they scored in the first meeting against the Hoosiers was a conference high.
Can the Badgers turn in a similar offensive performance against the Hoosiers on Saturday?
The Badgers will have a chance considering the Hoosiers over conference play are allowing 69.3 points per game and are allowing Big Ten teams to shoot 43.7 percent (471-for-1,078) from the field.
The 43.7 percent they’re allowing opposing Big Ten teams to shoot over conference play ranks 12th in the conference. Meaning if Wisconsin is able to stay patient on offense and doesn’t allow for the Hoosiers to speed them up or dictate the tempo of the game the Badgers should be able to generate some open looks for themselves on the offensive end.
Wisconsin did that in the first meeting against the Hoosiers as the Badgers registered 13 assists on 30 made field goals. As the Badgers finished the first game against the Hoosiers shooting 53.6 percent (30-for-56) from the field.
If Wisconsin can turn in a similar offensive performance they will certainly give themselves a good shot at winning against Indiana.
