Barkley QB 2

As mentioned, no Allen at practice. For the first time, and if things go well only time, we saw another quarterback in his place this year. That guy was Matt Barkley.

Earlier this offseason, Barkley’s roster spot came slightly into question because of the selection of rookie Jake Fromm by the team in the fifth round of the recent draft. It’s not surprising that Barkley is the Bills’ No. 2 QB at this point because of what’s happened since. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage in the United States and the preseason was canceled. Fromm has no NFL game experience and the Bills won’t want to throw him in blindly if squeezed. Barkley’s experience makes sense, and with the way things unfolded on Sunday, it appears Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott agrees with that idea.

During the final work of practice, the Bills did some 11-on-11 work and Barkley got the Bills into the end zone as his day slowly improved after a rough start. Reportedly Barkley found Stefon Diggs for a touchdown going across the middle of the field, and he connected with rookie Gabriel Davis on that drive, too.
