3 takeaways from Day 6 of Bills training camp practices

Three takeaways from Buffalo Bills 2020 training camp, Day 6.

After a delay to their offseason schedule due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Bills players finally have started to get on the field and hit each other. With preseason games still canceled, each day of practice held in Orchard Park is that much more important before the team’s season opener against the Jets on Sept. 13.

On Sunday, the Bills had a weird one during their sixth day of training camp practices. Here are three takeaways from Day 6 of Bills training camp practices:

Everyone missed practice

The lack of attendance was the issue at-hand on Sunday for the Bills. And not only because of the obvious, but because of the rather strange reason why things happened the way they did.

This weekend the NFL issued a statement that teams in the league were affected by an issue with COVID-19 test results. The problem sprung from a lab located in New Jersey. Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane said that one was being used by teams in the Northeastern United States and totaled about 10 to 11 clubs. The Bills were included. The problem was that the lab produced a bunch of false-positive results. Meaning players were said to have COVID-19, but don’t. For the Bills, it was confirmed that quarterback Josh Allen was among some of their players that had this problem. Others speculated include Harrison Phillips, Vernon Butler and Quinton Jefferson. All of those guys missed practice on Sunday but will return Monday most likely. Buffalo will be to be sure of these false positives, especially since several players hit by it were from the defensive line.
