247Sports’ updated 2023 recruiting rankings by player average

Texas falls just behind Notre Dame.

College football recruiting class rankings are always a game of see-saw until signing day.

Some recruits could flip their commitments, decommit for any other reason, or just prolong their decision until closer to December or February. Still, we’re able to get a glance at which programs are setting themselves up to close out the 2023 cycle with one of the top classes in the country.

Fortunately for Texas, they seem to be sitting comfortably as a top five class in the nation for the 2023 cycle. The Longhorns currently hold the No. 3 class in 247Sports’ rankings, just below Alabama and Notre Dame.

One of the more important aspects of recruiting class rankings to keep an eye on is the average player rating. For example, one particular program could hold less commitments than others, but own a higher overall average player rating. This obviously means the quality of recruits in their class are better. To no surprise, Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia currently top the list in this category.

Here’s a look at 247Sports’ recruiting class rankings by each programs average player rating.
